During the weekend of May 3rd - 5th we held one of of the biggest event in our calendar at the Redwood Club & Country Hotel near to Bristol. It was another great success with guests from Clifton (York), Vale Farm and Bridge Park (Hammersmith League) Badminton Clubs.
The winners of the Ron Seoman 2008 Shield were Melanie Knowles and Jessen Chen. The runners up to this event were Polly Hipkins and Ricky Evans.
The winners of the Oh No! McIntosh 2008 Sheild were Gill & Richard McIntosh with the runners-up of Hannah Saunders and Mannie Panesar.
We would like to thank everyone for making this event such a wonderful and fun weekend. We look forward to welcoming everyone for 2009.

This has not been a very successful year for us with 3 of our teams getting relegated - Surrey Men 1 (from Div 2), Surrey Men 2 (from Div 3) and Sutton Mix 1. I am sure we will bounce back for next year.
On another note, many congratulations to The Hammersmith Ladies 4s team for winning promotion to Div 1 for next year - Katy (captain), Polly, Ying, Claire, Rachel, Foong and Millie.
Well done to all the captains for what has been a difficult year for us and I hope you will continue to support the club and teams by staying on in your role. My thanks to all the players who have given their time for their teams.

The All England baddie trip was another briliant get together badminton weekend and we were pleasantly surprised to meet the Malaysian and Danish squads who were also staying at Novotel.
There were 35 of us this year, plus 3 babies - Nicolas, James and Abbie. For those of you who watched the Sky Sports Live Badminton, you would probably have heard Abbie cheering (moaning?) while Lin Dan played his final and also caught a clear glimpse of her sitting on David’s laps on TV on Friday (Quarter Final Japanes mens double match). The camera man also cleverly cropped Looi from shoulder upwards to miss his roast duck lunch box which he was digging into at the time. Needless to say, the ‘yellow corner’ was clearly visible in the audience on TV on the final day.
We shall mark the return of yellow t-shirt force to the NIA next year between 6-8 March 2009. Please ask Millie to include you in the tour if you are interested.

Just a quick email to say that Theo arrived on 27th Dec. Only one day late, so the due date was really accurate.
My wife and Theo are doing well and left the hospital today. Theo weighed 3.6 kg and was 53 cms tall.
I’m off to Thailand next week so I’ll see you in Feb.
Happy New Year
